ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES FOR TELE HEALTH ECOSYSTEMS

BUILD Privacy & TRUST FOR ALL:

Coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed the world forever, and even more so with telehealth.  Telehealth is the distribution of health-related services and information via electronic information and telecommunication technologies. It allows long-distance patient and clinician contact, care, advice, reminders, education, intervention, monitoring, and remote admissions.

According to section 4003 of the 21st Century Cures Act (Cures Act) enacted in 2016, the term 'interoperability,' with respect to health information technology, means such health information technology that— "(A) enables the secure exchange of electronic health information with, and use of electronic health information from, other health information technology without special effort on the part of the user; "(B) allows for complete access, exchange, and use of all electronically accessible health information for authorized use under applicable State or Federal law; and "(C) does not constitute information blocking as defined in section 3022(a). Research shows that physicians’ who have electronic health records (EHR) that are interoperable are more likely to report that they have the information they need at the point of care. In 2017, approximately 80 percent of office-based physicians possessed a certified EHR. However, only 1 in 10 reported that they were interoperable (i.e. able to electronically send, receive, find, and integrate data from outside sources).

AI and blockchain-based technology solutions allows for customization of telehealth ecosystems across "permissioned" digital workplace health provider networks. The creation of new digital processes, contract execution, digital employee identities and electronic documentation when combined with smart contracts (self-executing computer programs that only run if certain conditions have been met) enable new telehealth digital collaborations. Telehealth AI and blockchain-based solutions allow for a unique combination of permissioned health provider networks, immutable encrypted records, privacy, and confidentiality. Cryptographic hashing support the entire telehealth ecosystem's chain of attestation and privacy issues, including shared trusted exchanges and document flows (associated with remote machines/devices).

Our solutions are based on Intellectual Property (IP) and blockchain technology and are US patented. Each solution is customized for the telehealth ecosystems, irrespective of size and location of the health ecosystems involved.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES FOR TELEHEALTH ECOSYSTEMS:

CASE STUDY: Interoperability among Office-Based Physicians

HIGHLIGHTS:

  1. Physicians’ rates of electronically finding or querying data from outside sources increased by 50% between 2015 and 2017; however, rates of engaging in other domains of interoperability did not change during this period.
  2. Physicians who used certified EHRs and participated in value-based payment models had higher rates of engaging in each of the 4 domains of interoperability compared to their counterparts.
  3. Among physicians who engaged in all 4 domains of interoperability, 8 in 10 had patient health information electronically available at the point of care in contrast to one-third of physicians nationally.
  4. About 1 in 5 primary care physicians electronically received emergency department notifications in 2017.
